Precautions for the Installation of Turbine Flowmeters

Release time: 2026-10-12

1. The turbine flowmeter should be installed horizontally on the pipeline. During installation, the axis of the flowmeter should be concentric with the axis of the pipeline, and the flow direction should be consistent. The upstream pipeline should have a straight pipe section of equal diameter no less than 2D. If the installation site permits, it is recommended that the upstream straight pipe section be 20D and the downstream straight pipe section be 5D.

2. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream piping at the installation point of the flowmeter shall be the same as the inner diameter of the flowmeter.

3. To ensure that the normal use of the medium is not affected during maintenance of the flowmeter, shut-off valves (stop valves) should be installed on the pipes upstream and downstream of the flowmeter, and a bypass pipeline should also be provided. The flow control valve should be installed downstream of the flowmeter. When the flowmeter is in use, the stop valve installed upstream must be fully open to avoid unstable flow in the upstream section.

4. The flowmeter should preferably be installed indoors. If it must be installed outdoors, measures should be taken to protect it from sunlight, rain, and lightning, so as not to affect its service life. In addition, the flowmeter should be installed in a location that is convenient for maintenance and free from strong electromagnetic interference and thermal radiation.

5. If the medium contains impurities such as debris, stones, or dust, it is recommended to install a filter with a 5-micron mesh upstream of the flowmeter.
