Installation and use method of oval gear flowmeter
Release time: 2026-05-18

- A matching filter should be installed before the flowmeter, with the outlet of the matching filter immediately connected to the inlet of the flowmeter. The arrows on both bodies must align with the direction of liquid flow.
- When the measured liquid contains gas, a gas-eliminating filter should be installed before the flowmeter.
- Regardless of whether the pipeline is installed vertically or horizontally, the elliptical gear in the flowmeter should be positioned horizontally (i.e., the dial face should be perpendicular to the ground).
- If the flowmeter is properly installed but the reading is difficult to see, the counter can be rotated 180 degrees or 90 degrees as needed.
- Before installing a new flowmeter, use a bamboo stick to push the elliptical gear several times from the outlet. If it does not move, soak it in diesel fuel (to avoid residue left from factory calibration).
- The flow control valve should be installed at the inlet of the flowmeter, while the shutoff valve should be installed at the outlet. When using the shutoff valve, open it slowly and avoid sudden opening to prevent water hammer.
- Before installing the flowmeter on a new pipeline, the pipeline needs to be flushed. During flushing, a straight pipe section (in place of the flowmeter) should be used to prevent welding slag, debris, etc., from entering the flowmeter.
- It is strictly forbidden to use water for calibration of flowmeters made of cast iron or cast steel.
- During operation, the flow rate of the flowmeter must not exceed the technical requirements. The optimal operating range is 50–80% of the maximum flow rate.
- If the measured liquid is chemically corrosive, a flowmeter made of stainless steel must be selected.
