Application of Oval Gear Flowmeter in High-Viscosity Media
Release time: 2026-05-05
The oval gear flowmeter operates on the positive displacement principle. Through two precision-meshing oval gears, it divides the fluid into fixed volumes to measure the flow rate. This principle gives it the following advantages in high-viscosity measurement:
- High accuracy: High-viscosity fluids effectively reduce internal leakage, enabling measurement accuracy as high as ±0.2% to ±0.5%.
- Insensitive to viscosity changes: It remains highly accurate even at low flow rates.
- Easy installation and good adaptability: It has low requirements for upstream/downstream straight pipe lengths, and can be installed horizontally or vertically, adapting to complex piping environments.
- Direct volumetric measurement, no compensation needed: It directly measures volumetric flow rate, unaffected by changes in fluid density or viscosity, requiring no additional compensation.
- Wide turndown ratio and wide temperature range: It accommodates large flow fluctuations. Some high-temperature models can measure media from -30°C to +280°C.
Oval gear flowmeters are widely used in various industrial fields and are particularly suitable for metering high-value viscous fluids.
- Petrochemical industry: Used for the transportation, batching, and custody transfer metering of various oils such as heavy oil, asphalt, residual oil, and lubricating oil.
- Fine chemical industry: Precisely meters high-value chemical raw materials such as resins, adhesives, and coatings, ensuring accurate proportioning and improving product quality.
- Food and pharmaceutical industries: Used for batching and filling metering of foods such as syrup, honey, and chocolate sauce, as well as high-viscosity medicinal liquids.
- Other industries: Also used in road construction, textile auxiliaries, shipping, and other fields.
