Application of Oval Gear Flow Meters in Marine Fuel Metering

Oval gear flow meters (also known as positive displacement flow meters) are widely used in marine fuel metering. Their main advantages and applications are as follows:

• High accuracy: As a positive displacement measuring device, the oval gear flow meter discharges a fixed volume of fuel per revolution, with little influence from viscosity changes. It is especially suitable for viscous liquids such as heavy fuel oil and diesel oil.
• Bidirectional measurement: It can measure both fuel consumption and refueling volume, serving for fuel consumption monitoring and energy efficiency management on ships.
• Adaptability to harsh environments: With a rugged structure and vibration resistance, it is suitable for the marine engine room environment.
• Pulse output capability: When combined with a flow totalizer or computer system, it enables real-time fuel consumption recording, alarm triggering, and data uploading.
