Application of Vortex Flowmeter in Gas Measurement
Release time: 2026-06-02
Working principle: Gas flows past a vortex shedder, generating alternating vortices. The frequency is proportional to the flow velocity.
Applicable gases: Clean, medium-to-high velocity gases such as air, nitrogen, natural gas, and carbon dioxide.
Key requirements: Flow velocity typically ≥5 m/s (higher for low‑pressure or low‑density gases), Reynolds number ≥10⁴.
Advantages: No moving parts, low pressure loss, wide turndown ratio (10:1 to 20:1).
Disadvantages and limitations: Weak signal at low flow velocities; sensitive to pipe vibration; requires temperature and pressure compensation to obtain standard volume or mass flow.
Installation(key points): Sufficient straight pipe run (15–20D upstream), vertical installation preferred, keep away from vibration sources.
